Observing, measuring and understanding belowground processes is essential to manage plant-soil interactions for a sustainable production. However, these processes are hardly visualisable and quantified in the field without adequate tools and models. MYCEA develops Scanorhize, an innovative, autonomous and connected scanner allowing automatic and fast soil image acquisition in the field. The large amount of images is automatically centralized and stored n a dedicated cloud platform and analysed by a specific module of image recognition to extract new relevant biological activity indicators (root lenght and surface, extra radicular mycelium lenght and surface, activity of soil fauna…). The market placing of this innovation opens up new promising perspectives for studying and measuring soil activity by international researchers and industrialists.
