The project consists in developing a new methodology to design crops in breeding programs. The
innovative approach combines mathematical modeling of plant, call “digital plants”, based on
molecular makeup of the plant, with state-off-the art genomic selection methodology. The new
methodology aims at improving the genomic selection methods used by breeders companies by
reducing the time to market launch and improving crop productivity, especially for complex traits like
yield. The “digital crops” developed in the frame of the project will be an enabling technology to predict
crop/plants behavior that may be plug with any kind of agroecosystems or ecosystems management
tools.
