IAdvance seeks to develop an automated decision-making tool for the adventitious and cover crops flora management in vineyards. The tool takes its data from cameras equipped on tractors taking pictures every meter. They are then analyzed with Artificial Intelligence (AI) recent techniques to exhaustively identify and quantify the flora. A knowledge base is then used to provide actionable decisions to the winegrowers: where, when and how to act. This will help more winegrowers to move toward spontaneous cover crops, being the cheapest alternative to chemical herbicides and one of the most sustainable solution. It requires however a cautious and accurate management, that this tool is meant to provide. The tool will aggregate the knowledge around bio-indicative plants to provide a full picture of the soils. Benefits for farmers are a reduction of mechanical interventions, reduction of chemical inputs and an overall improvement of their soil sustainability.
