Worldwide agriculture accounts for 70% of all water consumption, compared to 20% for industry and 10% for domestic use, and the demand for freshwater is increasing by 64 billion cubic meters a year. Water is the main natural resource in agriculture and its efficiently consumption must be prioritized. WATERSENS is an innovative Self-Autonomous Smart Water Control System using LoRaWAN™ as a cloud-based IOT solution technology that allows an efficient management of the water resource, could be deployed in the crop field to directly manage the output points of water connection (POCs) for 10 years without human intervention (until the batteries must be replaced) and has a long-distance connectivity capacity of more than 10 km. The final focus for the product is to implement a Machine Learning Ecosystem that helps to achieve a more efficient use of water resources.
