The GoyaLab FluoTrace project aims to mature an existing technology proven in other sectors, fluorescence spectroscopy, a light-based technique, used to analyse the chemistry of materials. This technology is non-destructive, contactless and very sensitive, even to traces of molecules. The advent of miniature spectrometers, compatible with a smartphone, have enabled chemical analyzes in the field, with compact equipment, easy to use and affordable. The goal of the FluoTrace project is to assess the maturity of this mobile technology for specific use-cases in the food industry sector, from vegetable oil quality assessment to toxin detection in different food stuff.
